Terms of Service

The rules, explained plainly

Effective August 4, 2026 · Applies to builddiscordbots.com, bots hosted on our platform, the module marketplace, and community monetization features.

1. The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and Build Discord Bots ("we", "us"). By creating an account, hosting a bot, buying or selling on the marketplace, or using community monetization, you agree to them. If you use the platform on behalf of a community or company, you confirm you have the authority to bind it. Questions: hello@builddiscordbots.com.

2. Accounts and acceptable use

You are responsible for your account, your bot tokens, and everything your bots do. Keep your credentials private. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by Discord in your country).

You agree not to use the platform to:

  • break the law, Discord's Terms of Service, or Discord's Community Guidelines;
  • spam, harass, scam, or deceive Discord users;
  • distribute malware, phishing content, or attempt to breach the platform or other users' bots;
  • evade bans, rate limits, tier limits, or content rules with multiple accounts or technical tricks.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Where practical we'll warn you first — hard violations (fraud, illegal content, platform attacks) skip the warning.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Our paid plan (Pro) bills monthly or yearly through PayPal — funded by your PayPal balance, linked bank account, or a card inside PayPal's checkout. You can cancel anytime from your subscription page; PayPal cancellations take effect immediately (see section 4). Some accounts remain on grandfathered legacy plans (Premium, Developer) that are no longer sold — the same billing terms apply to them. A small number of historic subscriptions are still card-billed; card billing is no longer offered for new purchases, and those subscriptions wind down at the end of their paid period when cancelled. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice — continuing to subscribe after a change takes effect means you accept the new price.

The monthly AI credit allowance included with a plan resets each month and doesn't roll over. Credits you buy in packs never expire (see section 4). Downgrading or canceling can disable tier-gated features (including monetization selling — see section 6) but never deletes your data or your earned balance.

4. Credit packs and refunds

Credit packs are one-time purchases (not subscriptions) — paid with PayPal, funded by your PayPal balance, linked bank account, or a card inside PayPal's checkout. Purchased credits never expire and stay in your balance until you spend them on AI features such as the AI Module Builder. Credits are not a payment method for subscriptions and can't be redeemed for cash.

  • Credit packs: refundable within 14 days of purchase only if no credits from that pack have been spent. Once any credit from the pack is used, the pack is non-refundable.
  • Subscriptions (billed via PayPal): cancellation takes effect immediately — your plan ends right away rather than at the end of the billing period. We don't issue partial or prorated refunds for unused time.
  • Legacy card-billed subscriptions (no longer offered): cancel anytime; access runs to the end of the period you already paid for as the subscription winds down. We don't issue partial or prorated refunds for unused time.

To request a refund, contact hello@builddiscordbots.com from your account email. Nothing here limits refund rights that consumer law in your country requires us to honor.

5. Module marketplace

Sellers list custom modules; buyers purchase them for their own bots. Marketplace sales pay the seller per the revenue split shown at listing time, credited to a ledger and paid out through the payout flow in section 6. You keep ownership of modules you build; you grant us the license needed to host, review, and distribute them to buyers. We may remove listings that are broken, malicious, infringing, or misrepresented.

6. Community monetization — seller terms

Pro and Developer subscribers can sell to their own Discord community: paid memberships, tips, and — as features launch — events, shop items, and digital products. These terms apply the moment you create your first offer.

How the money flows: buyers pay through Stripe checkout into our Stripe account. Your earnings are credited to your seller ledger as gross − Stripe processing costs − our platform fee. The platform fee is 2% (1% on the Developer tier). We may run promotional fee rates; the rate applied at the time of each sale is final for that sale.

Earnings hold: earnings stay pending for 7 days before becoming available — this absorbs refunds and most disputes. Payouts require an available balance of at least $50 and are processed manually to your configured payout method (PayPal, Zelle, CashApp, or other). One payout request at a time.

Refunds: you set your own refund policy and it's shown to buyers at checkout. You can refund any purchase from your dashboard. We reserve the right to issue refunds ourselves for fraud, policy violations, or unresolved buyer complaints — refunds debit your ledger.

Chargebacks and standing: chargebacks and disputes debit your ledger, which can go negative; payouts are blocked while your balance is negative or a dispute is open. Repeated disputes or complaints can suspend your monetization features. We reserve the right to deboard sellers entirely.

Prohibited behind our paywalls: adult or sexually explicit content; regulated goods (alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons, pharmaceuticals); gambling or pure-chance lotteries with paid entry; illegal content of any kind; anything that violates Discord's terms. Contests must always offer a free entry route and be decided by skill, not pure chance.

Commissions are not escrow: commission deposits and balance payments are payment scheduling between you and your buyer. Funds settle to your ledger like any other sale; we are not an escrow agent and don't adjudicate delivery disputes beyond our refund rights above.

Taxes: you are responsible for taxes on your earnings. If you are a US seller and your lifetime payouts approach IRS reporting thresholds, we may require a W-9 and issue a 1099.

Discord: monetization runs through your bot under Discord's third-party monetization rules. Don't imply Discord endorses your offers.

7. Community purchases — buyer terms

When you buy a membership, tip, or other offer inside a Discord server, you are buying from the server owner, not from us — we provide the payment rails and fulfillment bot. The owner's refund policy (shown at checkout) governs; if you can't resolve an issue with the owner, contact us and we'll review it.

Recurring memberships renew monthly until canceled. Cancel anytime with the Manage button on /membership in the server, which opens your Stripe billing portal — no platform account needed. Perks (roles, channel access) end when the membership ends.

8. Your content and our platform

You own your bots, modules, and content. You grant us the license needed to host and operate them. We own the platform, its code, and its branding. Don't copy, resell, or white-label the platform itself without a written agreement.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The platform is provided "as is". We work hard on uptime but don't guarantee bots will never go offline, and we aren't liable for lost revenue from downtime, Discord outages, or third-party failures (Stripe, Discord, hosting providers). To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, hosted bots stop and data is deleted per the Privacy Policy retention schedule. Earned seller balances that are available and above the payout minimum will be paid out on request even after account closure, unless withheld for fraud or unresolved disputes.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Material changes are announced on the changelog and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the updated terms.
