Discord AutoMod with enforcement or staff review

AutoMod checks new member messages against enabled rule filters: spam, invites, links, caps, mentions, words, emoji spam, duplicates, newlines and Zalgo text. Exempt roles and channels are set per filter; members with Manage Messages are skipped. Only the first matching filter is handled.

Choose report-only review to keep flagged messages in place and save a staff case. This mode does not delete, warn, mute, kick, ban, escalate or run AI analysis. Turn it off to restore the saved enforcement actions. AutoMod is included in Pro.

What you get

Configurable rule filters

Set thresholds, word lists and link rules, with per-filter role and channel exemptions. Allow GIFs exempts supported GIF-only links from the link filter when enabled.

Report-only staff review

Save a per-server queue with a message link, matched rule, author and up to 1,000 text characters. Staff with Manage Messages use private slash replies to list, view, mark reviewed or dismiss. Resolving a case never punishes the author. Optional notifications name the case and rule in a staff channel hidden from @everyone; message text stays in private replies.

Existing enforcement mode

With report-only off, enabled filters delete flagged messages and run their saved actions. Escalation can mute, kick or ban after repeated violations.

What it needs

Setting it up

  1. Enable AutoMod on your Pro bot, open Configure, and choose the server. Enable Report-only review and optionally select Staff review notifications. Save Settings. Report-only is off by default, preserving existing enforcement.
  2. Enable the rule filters you need and set their thresholds, lists and exemptions. Saved punishment actions and escalation settings are ignored while report-only is on; AI analysis is also skipped.
  3. Regenerate older bots to install the queue commands and persistence. Use /automod amreview action:list, then view, reviewed or dismiss with the case number.
  4. For a saved Link Filter that has no Allow GIFs setting, GIF links stay subject to the filter until you turn on Allow GIFs. With it on, a message passes the Link Filter only when all of its links are Tenor, Giphy or Discord .gif sources.

Example

A member posts a word matched by an enabled Word Filter. In report-only mode the message stays in place, a pending case is saved, and an optional staff notification names the case number and rule. A moderator privately views and dismisses it; no punishment occurs.

Frequently asked questions

Does report-only mode delete or punish?

No. Rule matches are saved for review, with optional staff notifications. Deletion, warnings, mute, kick, ban, escalation and AI analysis are skipped. Turn report-only off to restore existing enforcement settings.

Who can view the saved messages?

Staff with Manage Messages who, along with the bot, can still view the source channel. Review commands reply privately. Notifications show a case number and rule, never the saved text; restrict the chosen channel to your staff.

How long does the queue keep cases?

Cases survive bot restarts. Each server stores up to 1,000 total cases, including resolved cases, with up to 1,000 text characters per capture. Cases expire 30 days after capture when the queue is next used. A full queue skips new reports; attachments and offline messages are not captured.
