Celebrate birthdays without collecting birth years
Members save their own birthday month and day with private slash commands. Staff with Manage Server can list the next 15 birthdays. No birth year or age is collected or stored. Members can remove their saved birthday at any time while the module remains selected.

Choose a celebration channel, hour and IANA time zone in the dashboard. The bot combines everyone celebrating into one daily post, with an editable birthday message and optional join anniversaries. This entire module, including 24-hour birthday roles, is on Free.
What you get
One daily post
The birthday template must include {members} and may include {server}. Mentions do not ping. Large lists are attached to the same post so everyone is named without sending multiple messages.
Dates that survive restarts
Saved dates and daily claims live in the bot’s persistent local database. Feb 29 is celebrated on Feb 28 in non-leap years. A repeated daylight-saving hour cannot post twice; a skipped hour runs at the next available hour.
Optional roles and join anniversaries
Birthday roles last 24 hours using the existing Temporary Roles expiry worker, included on Free. Permanent roles are preserved. Join anniversaries use Discord’s current joined date and appear in the same post.
Example commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/birthday set month:2 day:29 | Save or update only your own month and day. The reply explains that it can appear in celebrations and the staff list. |
/birthday remove | Delete your own saved birthday. Daily posts may be off; the module must remain selected. |
/birthday view | Privately view your own saved month and day. |
/birthday upcoming | Manage Server only: privately list the next 15 birthdays, sorted in the server’s configured time zone. |

Birthdays in 5 minutes
1. Turn it on: Open your bot, go to Modules, select Birthdays (Free) and enable it. Start or restart the bot so Discord registers the /birthday commands. Daily posts stay off until step 3.
2. What members do: Replies are private. Members use /birthday set month:10 day:18 (there is no year field), /birthday view and /birthday remove. Staff with Manage Server can use /birthday upcoming to see the next 15. Save at least one birthday before enabling daily posts.
3. Daily post: Choose a text or announcement channel, a daily hour from 0 to 23 and an IANA time zone such as Europe/Paris, America/New_York or UTC. The bot needs View Channel and Send Messages; long lists also need Attach Files. Set a message containing {members}; {server} is optional, the default is ‘🎂 Happy birthday, {members}!’, and the limit is 500 characters. Then enable daily posts and save. There is one combined post per day; mentions never ping. If the content exceeds Discord’s message limit, names go in one attached birthdays.txt file. A day with nobody celebrating has no post. Once the posting hour has passed, that day is skipped: a later birthday waits until next year, and offline days are not caught up. A bot starting later on the same day can still post. Feb 29 is observed on Feb 28 in non-leap years. During daylight-saving changes, a skipped hour runs at the next hour and a repeated hour cannot post twice.
4. Extras: A birthday role is included on Free, is granted for 24 hours, and needs Manage Roles with the bot’s role above it. Someone who already has the role keeps it; overdue expiry is reconciled after a restart. Join anniversaries need Server Members Intent: enable it in Developer Portal → your app → Bot → Privileged Gateway Intents before saving and restarting. Birthday commands and posts do not need that intent.
Privacy: Saved birthdays contain only the server, member, month and day—never a year. Daily posting claims and optional role-expiry jobs are also stored locally. /birthday remove deletes a member’s saved birthday at any time.

Frequently asked questions
Is this module Free?
Yes. Daily posts, editable messages, birthday roles and join anniversaries are all on Free. No Temporary Roles subscription or Pro commands are required.
What happens after an outage?
If the bot starts after the configured hour, it can post for the current local day; previous days are not backfilled. Daily claims are saved before sending, so an interrupted or uncertain Discord send may be missed rather than duplicated. Expired roles are reconciled when the bot resumes.
What information is stored?
Only the server ID, member ID, birthday month and birthday day are stored for member dates. Daily posting claims and optional role-expiry jobs are also kept locally. Birth years are never requested. Join dates are read from Discord, not stored as birthday data.
