Count together, one number at a time
Counting turns a text channel into a shared game: members start at 1 and take turns posting exactly the next integer. A correct count gets ✅. A wrong number or two consecutive turns by the same member gets ❌, a short failure line, and the next number returns to 1.

Counting is Free forever, with one counting channel per server on every plan. The current number, server high score and each member’s correct-count total survive bot restarts. Resetting a streak or changing channels keeps the high score and member leaderboard. Nothing pauses when Pro access ends.
What you get
Simple rules and immediate feedback
Post literal positive integers only: no spaces, leading zeroes, expressions or other text. Bots and webhooks are ignored. Edited or deleted messages never change a count.
A record worth beating
The server high score records the longest successful streak. /counting stats privately shows the current number, next number, high score and top 10 members by lifetime correct counts.
One channel, clear permission warnings
Choose the channel in the dashboard or with /counting set. Staff need Manage Server for set and reset. Missing bot permissions suspend counting with a warning until repaired; hidden or obfuscated saved channels are never touched.
What it needs
- A generated, running bot with Counting enabled in its Modules tab. Existing bots need the normal regeneration step to install the new stock module.
- A visible ordinary text channel, View Channel, Send Messages, Add Reactions and Read Message History. Enable Message Content Intent for the bot in the Discord Developer Portal.
Setting it up
- Open your bot’s Modules tab, enable Counting, select Configure and choose the server. Select the Counting channel, turn on Enable counting, then Save Settings. Each server has its own game.
- Alternatively, a member with Manage Server can use /counting set channel:#counting. Start by posting 1; another member posts 2. Use /counting reset to restart at 1 without clearing scores.
Example
Alex posts 1 and gets ✅. Sam posts 2 and gets ✅. Sam then posts 3: ❌, one failure line, and the next number is 1. The high score remains 2, and both Alex and Sam keep one correct count.
Limits and troubleshooting
Limits
- One saved counting channel per server on all plans. This Free module has no pause when plans change. Changing the channel starts a new streak at 1 while keeping server scores; disabling pauses the game.
- Post exactly a positive integer (up to 9,007,199,254,740,991), without spaces or leading zeroes. No math-expression mode. All non-empty non-number messages break the streak. Each member must wait for another member’s successful count.
If it doesn’t work
- No reactions: check the saved channel, module switch, bot permissions and Message Content Intent. Messages with empty content are ignored. No missed messages are replayed after downtime or suspension.
- For a storage or other Discord error, counting suspends. Check bot logs and fix the error, then use /counting reset. Deleted messages do not roll back counts. Failure notices and leaderboard mentions never ping members.

Frequently asked questions
What happens after a mistake?
The bot reacts ❌ and posts one short line such as “@user ruined it at 57, the next number is 1”. The streak starts over, but the record and lifetime correct-count totals remain. Posting twice in a row counts as a mistake, even with the right number.
What permissions and intents does Counting need?
The bot needs View Channel, Send Messages, Add Reactions and Read Message History in the chosen text channel, plus Message Content Intent enabled in the Discord Developer Portal. Missing permissions stop counting, warn in the channel when writable and in bot logs, and appear as suspended in dashboard settings. Permissions resume automatically when repaired.
Can edits, deletions or bots change the game?
No. Only new member messages in the saved counting channel are attempts. Bots and webhooks are ignored. Editing or deleting an accepted message does not undo it. Empty content is ignored. Other non-empty messages, including chat and math expressions, break the streak.
