Let members choose a country for an aggregate map

Country Map lets each member save one country choice in each server using a two-letter ISO code. The member must explicitly agree with consent:true. ZZ means unknown or prefer not to say. The bot never infers a country from an IP address, profile or message.

This Free stock module starts off. After the owner enables its per-server setting, members can view a private PNG map and paginated country counts. Markers show approximate country locations, not member locations or political borders. Countries below the display minimum are omitted from both the map and list and pooled into a hidden total.

What you get

Members control their choice

Only the caller’s own choice can be set, updated or removed. /countrymap remove still works when the per-server setting is off, as long as the module remains selected for the bot and server. Manage Server can clear every saved choice with explicit confirmation.

Aggregate map and counts

Only countries with at least 3 choices are shown by default. Owners can raise the minimum through 20. Circle size reflects the saved count. Unknown choices have a separate total; members who never submit are not counted. Replies are private, but members can share the image themselves.

Bounded saved choices

The default is 1,000 records per server; owners can set 1–10,000 on every tier. Each member uses one record. Lowering a limit preserves choices and allows updates and removal. Choices survive restarts until removed or cleared, including after a member leaves. There is no history or member-level export.

Example commands

CommandWhat it does
/countrymap set country:SE consent:trueSave or update your own country choice after explicit consent. Use a two-letter ISO code or ZZ for unknown.
/countrymap removeDelete your own choice, including while the per-server setting is off. This does not retract images already shared by members.
/countrymap view page:1Get a private aggregate PNG map and country totals, 15 countries per list page. Hidden small groups never appear as markers.
/countrymap clear confirm:trueManage Server only: permanently delete every saved choice in this server. Other servers are unaffected.

Enable it and invite voluntary choices

Select Country Map for your bot and follow the normal regenerate/start workflow. Existing generated bots require regeneration. No additional privileged intent or bot permission is declared for its private slash-command replies.

Open Country Map settings in the Modules tab, select your server and enable country choices. Save. The feature is off for new and existing servers until you do this.

Choose a minimum of 3–20 choices per visible country and a record limit of 1–10,000. The defaults are 3 and 1,000. All tiers share the same bounds; lowering the record limit preserves existing choices.

Members can run /countrymap set country:SE consent:true or choose another ISO code. Run /countrymap view to see the aggregate map once a country reaches the display minimum. Use /countrymap remove to withdraw, or Manage Server with /countrymap clear confirm:true to erase the server’s records.

Frequently asked questions

Does the bot detect where members live?

No. Every saved country is chosen by that member after explicit consent. There is no IP lookup or profile inference. This is a map of saved choices, not verified locations or a current membership census.

What is stored and who can see it?

The bot’s local database stores a server ID, member ID and chosen country code so members can update and remove their own choice. Map replies contain aggregate counts only. No member-name list, country history or member-level export is provided. Server operators with access to the bot database can read its stored records; the map is not a guarantee of anonymity.

What happens when I disable it or a member leaves?

Disabling the per-server setting pauses new choices and views while retaining data. Members can still remove their choice and managers can clear the server while the module remains selected. If the module is unselected, reselect it to run those commands. Leaving does not automatically erase a choice. Regeneration must retain the bot database to retain choices; previously shared images cannot be retracted by this module.
