See why your Discord bot’s commands cannot work
Moderation stopped working after a move to slash commands? Enable Permission Check and run /diagnose in the affected channel. The bot lists the Discord permissions used by every enabled stock module and shows whether it has them in the server and this channel.

Permission Check is Free and opt-in. Only members with Manage Server can run it. The reply is ephemeral and read-only: it explains problems and gives steps you can take, without changing roles, permissions or settings. Longer reports are attached as a private text file.
What you get
Server and channel permissions
See each module’s feature requirements, including optional settings and prefix replies, alongside server and current-channel permission checks. Other output and voice channels may differ.
Saved role hierarchy
Check whether the bot’s highest role is above its saved target roles. Missing roles and integration roles get clear next steps. Roles or members selected at command time still need their own check.
Privileged intent dependencies
See the intents each module depends on and whether this running client requests them. Developer Portal toggle states remain unverified; the report tells you where to check.
Example commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/diagnose | Members with Manage Server receive a private report for the enabled modules. No settings or Discord permissions are changed. |

Enable it and check the affected channel
Open your bot in the dashboard, choose Modules, and enable Permission Check. Enabling it uses the usual bot module generation flow; existing bots without this selection are unchanged.
With Manage Server, run /diagnose in the channel where you need help. Read the private report or its text attachment.
For a hierarchy conflict, move the bot’s role above the named role in Server Settings → Roles. For a channel denial, review that channel and its category overrides. Check privileged intents in Discord Developer Portal → Bot, then run /diagnose again.

Frequently asked questions
Does /diagnose fix the bot automatically?
No. It reads permissions, roles and saved configuration. You apply the suggested changes in Discord or the dashboard and run it again.
Can anyone see or use the report?
The standalone /diagnose requires Manage Server and replies ephemerally to the person who ran it. Permission Check is off until you enable it. The existing Tools /tool diagnose command remains available separately.
Does a passing report guarantee every command works?
No. It checks Discord permissions and saved role hierarchy in this server and the current channel. Other channels, target members, optional settings, external services and Developer Portal intent toggles can still prevent a command from working. Custom modules without reviewed declarations are marked as unavailable.
