Minecraft Java offline and recovery alerts for Discord

Managers save a public Minecraft Java address and choose a Discord alert channel. Server Watch checks availability through mcsrvstat.us and posts an alert after two consecutive checks report a changed state.

Server Watch is an opt-in Pro module. It needs no third-party API key, payment integration or game-server plugin. Saved addresses are sent to mcsrvstat.us. It monitors reported availability, not crash causes, and does not support Bedrock or other games.

What you get

Confirmed changes

Checks run about every five minutes while enabled. The first successful result establishes a quiet baseline, whether online or offline. Two consecutive changed results confirm an offline or recovery alert. Provider results may be cached, so detection is delayed.

Saved state and clear failures

Watches, confirmed states and pending confirmations survive restarts. API failures show as unavailable and reset pending confirmation; they never count as offline. Long gaps require fresh confirmation. Downtime between checks can be missed.

Per-server controls

Off by default in each Discord server. Choose a default alert channel, an optional manager role and 1–5 watches (default 3). Manage Server always grants command access. Lowering the limit keeps existing watches.

Example commands

CommandWhat it does
/serverwatch add addressSave a public Minecraft Java hostname or IPv4 with an optional :port (1–65535). URLs, private IP literals and IPv6 are not accepted. Uses the default alert channel, or the command channel when none is set.
/serverwatch listManagers see watch IDs, addresses, destination channels, last confirmed states, last check times, pending changes and last attempted alert delivery. Saving an address does not verify that it hosts Minecraft.
/serverwatch remove idStop watching an address using its saved ID. Managers can also remove watches whose destination channel has been deleted or become inaccessible. Already posted alerts remain.

Set up Server Watch

Enable the Server Watch module and follow the normal regenerate/start workflow. In its settings, select the intended Discord server, turn on Enable in this server and save.

Optionally select a default text or announcement channel and manager role. Changing the default affects only new watches.

Run /serverwatch add address:play.example.com with your public Minecraft Java hostname or IPv4. An optional port can be appended. The first successful check sends no alert.

Run /serverwatch list to inspect the last confirmed state, current check and last attempted delivery. Remove a watch with /serverwatch remove id:… . No recovery alert is promised for outages that occurred entirely between checks.

Frequently asked questions

Does an offline alert prove the game server crashed?

No. The status service reports whether it could reach the Minecraft Java server. Network problems, firewalls and maintenance can also produce offline results. Checks are periodic and provider results may be cached; this is not real-time monitoring or a crash diagnosis.

What happens when an alert cannot be delivered?

The transition is saved before Discord is contacted. Missing channel access skips that alert, and failed or interrupted sends remain unconfirmed. Missed and unconfirmed alerts are not replayed. Inspect the destination and /serverwatch list before sharing manually. Disabling pauses commands and checks while keeping watches; an in-flight request cannot be recalled.

What setup and permissions are required?

Enable the module, select the intended Discord server in settings, turn on Enable in this server and save, then follow the normal regenerate/start workflow. Managers need Manage Server or the configured role. Adding requires visibility of the destination; the bot needs View Channel and Send Messages. No additional privileged intents or game-server installation are required.
