Let members manage their own game characters
Members register and update their own game characters under their Discord identity. Anyone in the server can look up an exact character name or list a member’s characters using private slash-command replies.

Character Roster is an opt-in Pro module. Each server gets a separate saved roster, three configurable text-field labels, a main/alt marker and bounded storage in the bot’s database. Entries are self-reported; the module does not verify game accounts.
What you get
Member-owned entries
Add, rename, edit and remove your own characters. Setting a character as main makes your other characters alts. Staff use a separate removal command; they cannot edit someone else’s entries.
Find the player
Look up a full character name, ignoring case and surrounding spaces, to see its Discord member and ID. List any member’s characters, main first, with five entries per page. Names must be unique within each server.
Configurable and bounded
Label field1, field2 and field3 for your game; defaults are Class, Role and Level. Blank labels hide fields and reject new values. Caps default to 10 characters per member and 1,000 per server and can be lowered.
Example commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/characters add name:Sunstone main:true | Register your own character. Add optional field1, field2 and field3 values; each has at most 40 characters. Without main:true, the entry is an alt. |
/characters edit name:Sunstone field3:81 | Update your own entry. Supply a new name, field value or main flag. Use - to clear a field; main:false marks it as an alt. |
/characters remove name:Sunstone | Remove your own character. Other members’ entries are refused, including when the caller is staff. |
/characters lookup name:Sunstone | Find the Discord member and ID for an exact character name in this server. Replies also show its main/alt marker and visible field values. |
/characters list member:@Alex page:1 | List a member’s characters; member defaults to you. Five entries per page, main first, then sorted by name. Use page:2 for a longer roster. |
/characters staffremove name:Sunstone | Remove any entry in this server. Requires Manage Server or the configured Roster staff role. |
/characters fields | Show the server’s current field labels and caps, so members know which values to supply in add and edit. |

Enable it and register a character
Enable Character Roster for your bot and follow the normal regenerate/start workflow. Existing bot code needs regeneration to receive this module.
Open Character Roster settings in the Modules tab, choose your server and turn on Enable the roster. Set field labels of at most 24 characters: Class, Role and Level default to field1, field2 and field3. Blank labels hide stored values without deleting them and reject new values. Save.
Keep the caps at 10 per member and 1,000 per server, or lower them to any positive whole number. Lowering caps preserves existing entries; edit and remove still work. Optionally choose a Roster staff role to supplement Manage Server.
Run /characters fields, then /characters add name:Sunstone field1:Mage field2:Healer field3:80 main:true. Another member can look up Sunstone or list your roster, but cannot edit it. Names are 1–64 characters, unique per server, with exact matching that ignores case and surrounding spaces and normalizes Unicode compatibility forms.

Frequently asked questions
Can members change another player’s characters?
No. Add uses the caller’s Discord identity. Edit and remove enforce ownership in the storage layer. Staff can remove any entry through /characters staffremove with Manage Server or the configured roster staff role.
Does the roster survive restarts?
Yes. Entries are stored in the bot’s existing local database and survive restarts and regeneration when that database is retained. Disabling the module pauses commands without deleting entries. Each server has its own roster.
Are characters verified against a game or spreadsheet?
No. Names and field values are self-reported text. The module uses no spreadsheet, game API or game-account login. Sheet Lookup remains a separate read-only module for published spreadsheet data.
