Faction XP is an opt-in Pro module, separate from individual Leveling XP. Monthly competitions are also off by default: enable them to track newly accepted faction awards in separate UTC calendar months while keeping cumulative totals.
What you get
Up to 10 role-based factions
Register existing roles without changing anyone’s membership. Members with zero or multiple registered faction roles earn nothing. Points stay with the faction when a member switches roles.
Saved scores and cooldowns
Award 1–100 XP per eligible message, with a 15–3600 second cooldown per member across all factions. Defaults are 10 XP and a cooldown of one minute. Scores and cooldowns survive restarts. Bots, webhooks, system messages and old messages do not earn XP.
Optional monthly competitions
Each month fixes up to 10 registered faction roles when tracking starts. Later registrations join next month. View current and saved results privately; ties share the lead, and zero scores have no winner. Keep the last 12 completed months.

Set up Faction XP
Enable Faction XP for your bot and follow the normal regenerate/start workflow. Existing bots need regeneration to receive the module.
Open settings, select the intended Discord server, turn on Enable in this server and save. Optionally choose a manager role, XP amount and member cooldown.
Run /faction add role:… for each existing faction role. Assign memberships with Discord’s role tools or your existing role module. Keep each participant in exactly one registered faction.
Send new messages in channels the bot can view, then run /faction leaderboard. After registering all faction roles, optionally enable Monthly competitions and use /faction monthly or /faction history. Cumulative totals remain separate; use removal or reset commands only when you intend to clear cumulative scores.

Frequently asked questions
How do monthly competitions work?
Enable Monthly competitions in this server’s settings. The first monthly command or accepted message starts tracking and fixes the registered roles for that month; register all roles first. Each calendar month ends on the first at 00:00 UTC and rolls over on the next eligible message or monthly command. New roles join next month. Results list tied leaders without choosing a sole winner; zero XP has no winner. Tracking has no earlier-message backfill. Cumulative resets and faction removal do not erase monthly points. There are no voice awards or automatic rewards.
What happens while disabled or offline?
Scoring and commands pause while disabled, but scores remain saved. Messages sent while the bot is offline are not replayed. Per-member cooldowns survive restarts, role switches, faction removal and score resets. Already earned points never move between factions. Disabling monthly competitions pauses only monthly tracking and keeps its saved results. Re-enabling resumes the same month or advances to the current month; missed months are not created.
Which messages count, and what permissions are needed?
New messages the bot receives in a server count if the member has exactly one registered faction role and their cooldown has expired. The bot must be able to view the channel. Message content is not inspected, and no additional privileged intents are needed. There is no content-quality filter or configurable channel exclusion. Manage Server or the configured manager role is required to change factions.
