Tag forum posts and close resolved discussions
Forum Automation applies existing forum tags to new posts when their title or starter message contains a configured keyword. Matching uses literal, case-insensitive substrings, with no regular expressions. Existing tags are preserved; the bot never applies more than five tags.
Start freeStart free. Pro is $9.99/month.
This opt-in Pro stock module also provides /forum resolve inside the configured forum’s posts. The author, when allowed, or a member of the configured staff role can apply the Resolved tag and archive the post. Owners can add locking and optional inactivity archiving. It does not provide achievements.
What you get
Keyword tags for new posts
Map existing forum tag IDs to keyword lists. Rules run top to bottom, with at most 20 rules and 20 keywords per rule, each up to 64 characters. Keywords match the title or starter message, not later replies. Existing posts are not retroactively tagged.
Resolve with scoped permission
Only the post author when allowed, or the configured staff role, can resolve. Manage Server alone does not bypass this rule. Resolution archives and, by default, locks the thread. Missing Resolved tags or a full five-tag list refuse closure without replacing existing tags.
Optional inactivity archive
Set 1–365 days since the latest posted message, including bots, or leave 0 to disable. Checks run at startup and every 15 minutes, fetching the latest message before archiving. Inactivity does not lock or apply the Resolved tag. Activity timestamps and the latest action are saved in the bot’s existing database.
Example commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/forum resolve | Run inside a post in the configured forum. Apply the existing Resolved tag and archive the thread; lock it if enabled. Replies are private, and the author/staff rule is enforced by the bot. |

Enable it for your forum
Enable Forum Automation on your Pro bot and follow the normal regenerate/start workflow. Existing bot code needs regeneration. In Discord, create the forum tags you want the bot to use, including a Resolved tag.
Open Forum Automation settings in the Modules tab, choose your server, enable the module and select one visible forum channel. Enable Discord Developer Mode, then copy existing tag IDs from the forum tags. Enter one keyword rule per line, for example: 123456789012345678 = help | question. The ID must belong to a tag in your selected forum.
Set the Resolved tag ID. Allow author resolution and/or choose a Forum staff role. Lock resolved posts defaults to on; turn it off to archive without locking. If neither authors nor a staff role is allowed, nobody can resolve through this command.
Leave inactivity at 0 to disable it, or choose a whole number from 1 to 365 days. Optionally choose an action and error log channel. Save. Grant View Channel, Manage Threads and Read Message History in the forum, and enable Message Content Intent for body keywords.
Create a fresh post with a keyword in its title or starter message and check its tags. As its author or approved staff, run /forum resolve in that post. Confirm the Resolved tag and archive state. If tags or permissions are missing, fix the setting named in the bot’s message and retry.

Frequently asked questions
What happens when a post already has five tags?
Keyword tagging preserves the five existing tags and skips additional matches with a clear notice. Resolution refuses to close the post if the Resolved tag needs a sixth slot. Remove a tag and retry. If the Resolved tag is already applied, resolution can proceed.
Which Discord permissions and intents are required?
The bot needs View Channel and Manage Threads for tag edits, archiving and locking. Read Message History is required to fetch starter bodies and verify inactivity. Enable Message Content Intent for body keywords. Without readable starter content, title matching still works. Missing or hidden channel metadata is skipped safely. An optional text log needs View Channel and Send Messages.
Can inactivity resolve a post automatically?
No. Inactivity only archives unlocked, active posts without adding Resolved or locking them. The timer uses the latest posted message, not reactions or message edits. It fetches Discord’s latest message after downtime, retains observed activity if messages are deleted and skips archiving when history cannot be verified.
