YouTube upload alerts for your Discord server

Let members see new videos from the public YouTube channels you follow. Managers add subscriptions by channel ID, and the bot posts video titles and links in a text or announcement channel.

YouTube Alerts is an opt-in Pro module. It reads public upload feeds without a third-party API key, payment integration or game-server installation. It does not monitor live status or provide Twitch or TikTok alerts.

What you get

Public upload feeds

Checks run about every ten minutes while enabled. The first successful check records existing videos without posting them. Later checks post up to three new videos still available in the feed.

Saved subscriptions

Subscriptions and seen-video state survive restarts. Retry rejected alerts is off by default; when enabled, explicit Discord access or permission rejections get up to three total attempts, with up to three pending alerts per subscription. Network failures, 5xx responses and lost responses remain unconfirmed and are never replayed.

Server-specific controls

Off by default in each server. Choose a default alert channel, an optional manager role and a limit of 1–10 subscriptions (default 5). Manage Server always grants command access.

Example commands

CommandWhat it does
/youtube add channelSubscribe with a YouTube channel ID: UC followed by 22 characters. Handles and URLs are not accepted. Uses the configured default channel, or the command channel when none is set.
/youtube listManagers see subscription IDs, destination channels, the last feed check and last attempted batch delivery. A saved subscription is pending until its first successful check.
/youtube remove idManagers remove a subscription by its saved ID. This also works if the destination channel has been deleted or the bot has lost access.

Set up YouTube alerts

Enable the YouTube Alerts module, select your server in its settings, switch on Enable in this server and save. Follow the normal regenerate/start workflow to load the new module.

Optionally choose a default text or announcement channel and manager role. New subscriptions use that channel; changing the default does not move saved subscriptions.

Use /youtube add channel:UC… with the creator’s 24-character channel ID. YouTube handles and channel URLs are not accepted. The first successful check records a baseline and sends no videos.

Use /youtube list to inspect checks and delivery. Remove an unwanted subscription with /youtube remove id:… . Lowering the subscription limit keeps existing subscriptions.

Frequently asked questions

Will this post old videos or detect every upload?

The first successful check establishes a baseline without posting existing videos. After that, only unseen videos at or newer than the last recorded publication time are considered. Each check posts at most the three newest candidates; older backlog is skipped. Public feeds contain limited history, so videos missing from the feed cannot be recovered.

What happens if a feed check or alert fails?

Feed failures are shown in /youtube list and checked again at the next interval. Missing channel permissions pause delivery without consuming new entries. Retry rejected alerts is off by default; when enabled, explicit Discord access or permission rejections get up to three total send attempts per alert at successful feed checks, with up to three pending alerts saved per subscription. Network failures, 5xx responses and lost or interrupted sends are never retried. Turning retries off discards the queue at the next enabled check. Disabling pauses checks and commands but keeps subscriptions. An already-sent request cannot be recalled.

Which permissions and platforms are supported?

Managers need Manage Server or the configured manager role. Adding a subscription also requires visibility of its destination channel; the bot needs View Channel and Send Messages. The module reads only public YouTube upload feeds. It adds no privileged Discord intents and does not support live-status, Twitch or TikTok notifications.
